I'm listening to the mastered version of Shawn's new solo album "The Diamond Hand" as this is being posted. Be prepared to be blown away by these 12 tracks. Some of the most beautiful tracks I've ever heard. As of now, the discs should be pressed and ready to be sent out in approximately 3 weeks. Could be sooner though, so cross your fingers.

Hello there...some news for y'all:

The artwork/layout is currently in "full production mode" for the upcoming full-length CD, "Half Horse, Half Gator, And A Touch Of The Earthquake" by AN AIRBAG SAVED MY LIFE. The band has just finished a 45 day tour, and will be taking a few weeks off to recover. Plans for a tour in November/December 2007 are in the works. Stay tuned for dates as soon as they are confirmed.

Also, after a very long wait we are proud to announce the first upcoming release by THE QUICK & DEAD, Danny Vesper's new project. We will start by releasing a CD single near the end of the year, and follow up early in 2008 with the full-length!

The Hotness are preparing for a West Coast mini-Summer tour, scheduled to start next week and hit Seattle, Portland, and San Francisco. Dates are posted on the TOUR page.

The boys in AN AIRBAG SAVED MY LIFE were lucky enough to get a chance to play a Private Birthday Party for a dude named Ryan in Bloomington, IL a couple weeks ago. It's pretty damn cool for a couple reasons:
1. The upcoming full-length CD by AASML features a track titled "Private Party." It rocks.
2. The boys have posted a new video on their myspace - featuring footage from the show.

We have finally decided and agreed upon a final mix for the upcoming CD by AN AIRBAG SAVED MY LIFE, titled "Half Horse, Half Gator, and a Touch Of The Earthquake." The 10 tracks will be sent off for mastering early next week, and we'll be dialing in the artwork soon. Although we don't have an official release date for it yet, we'll keep you posted - and we'll give you the first chance to pick up the album once it has been sent to press.

You know, you really should catch the boys of AN AIRBAG SAVED MY LIFE while they are on tour this month. It might just be the last time you did what was right...without second guessing yourself.

Twelve Gauge Valentine just wrapped up the “WAR WAGON TOUR” with Vanna, Bloodjinn, and The Silent Escape. After a performance at Cornerstone, the band has 2 weeks scheduled with Destroy The Runner, Bloodlined Calligraphy, and Endwell coming up next. After this trip, the band is talking about taking some time off to write a new album. The boys have had a few line-up changes, and are a solid 5-piece again. The new album is going to be amazing!

An Airbag Saved My Life just played a few shows in Iowa - one with the mighty Gaza. Before the local shows, AASML did 21 days with Twelve Gauge Valentine on THE SEARCH FOR THE TRUE GUITAR HERO tour.

Dates are being finalized right now for a short outing with Write This Down for early June. (some dates posted in the tours section here.)

In other Airbag news, the boys came out to Salt Lake City and recorded their upcoming Sound Vs Silence full-length with Andy Patterson in March. Jon from Gaza came in and threw down some vocals on one track, and Billy Johnson (Her Candane, Fear Before The March Of Flames) laid down some excellent guitar tracks too. We're finalizing the mix now, and the boys are working out details on a few months worth of shows to support the new album following it's release this Summer. The Search For The True Guitar Hero tour with TWELVE GAUGE VALENTINE and AN AIRBAG SAVED MY LIFE starts today in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Dates are posted here, and on the band's myspace pages. Make sure you try to check a show out and buy Sound Vs Silence releases from each band! (Plus, you can try your hand at playing Guitar Hero against one of the band members, and enter to win your own copy of the game.)

AN AIRBAG SAVED MY LIFE have just released SVSS-009 : a 7 song CD called "Phantazma! Phantazma!" The release date of this disc is April 17, 2007 but the band will have the disc available for sale at their homecoming show tomorrow - Friday, March 16 - at the Pella Memorial Building in Pella, IA. Also look for the disc on the merch table on the upcoming SEARCH FOR THE TRUE GUITAR HERO TOUR featuring TWELVE GAUGE VALENTINE and AN AIRBAG SAVED MY LIFE. If you won't make it to the upcoming shows, you can always buy the disc directly from the Sound Vs Silence online store, or purchase the digital version of the record one track at a time through the Snocap store on Airbag's myspace.

AN AIRBAG SAVED MY LIFE just finished recording a full-length record for us as well. Studio master Andy Patterson has outdone himself again. The full-length will be mixed, mastered, and released in a few months.

HER CANDANE remain on tour. We'll post new dates as they confirm. Dreu Candane threw me a message a couple days ago...said they were able to make a 40 pack of 40's...congrats on making the big book of world records boys. Hope your hangovers subside sometime soon...

AN AIRBAG SAVED MY LIFE is playing a couple shows on the way out to Salt Lake City this week. One is a show in Kansas, the other is a house show at Mike from Loom's place. The house show will be $2, and you'll get a chance to check out Airbag before they hunker down in the studio with Andy Patterson to work on the band's upcoming full-length.

Also, TWELVE GAUGE VALENTINE will be playing some dates with HASTE THE DAY, FROM AUTUMN TO ASHES, and ALESANA in April and May. Dates have been added to this site.

Sound Vs Silence will be re-issuing a REMIXED and REMASTERED version of Airbag's debut recording, "Phantazma! Phantazma!" The band will have the new version of the CD just in time for their tour with TWELVE GAUGE VALENTINE March 23rd - April 15th. Tour dates posted here soon.

The "Phantazma! Phantazma!" release date will be April 17, 2007. Look for it on CD and in Digital formats.

TWELVE GAUGE VALENTINE are finalizing a tour for the month of February. They will be out for most of the month headlining the tour with ONCE NOTHING and GWEN STACY.

One of Portland, Oregon's finest bands, SHELTER RED, have signed with SOUND VS SILENCE! The first record on SVSS will be called "Masters Of The Universe." It has been re-mastered by Jason Livermore (Rise Against, Lemonheads).

The beginning of the release schedule for 2007 is as follows...

SVSS-07 : THE HI.FI.MASSACRE "Disarm The Humans" (digital release)
SVSS-08 : THE HI.Fi.MASSACRE "Live at the Lo-Fi (+1)" (digital release/limited CD)

There's actually talk about possibly getting the band together to do a final celebratory show for these releases...keep your fingers crossed and we'll do all we can to make it happen!

Josh, Jarom, and Mike from The Hi.Fi.Massacre are playing in a new band called LOOM now, also featuring John Finnegan (The New Transit Direction). Look for them to start playing shows around Salt Lake City - they just played Kilby Court last week.

Kory (and Josh, I think) from Hi.Fi is/are also in Michigan and XUR...who I believe will be releasing a split CD on another local label sometime early this year.

Today Her Candane hit the road to do 3 weeks with I AM THE OCEAN (featuring former HC member Kellen Dopp) and Love Me Destroyer. Virgil at Suburban Home Records gave the boys a mention on the SHR website today too.

Ok...time to get crackin'. It's the 2007, and SVSS is thinking it's time to get serious! Our new year's resolution: Coagulate. Yep, that's what it's time to do.

As of today, we patiently await the return of a recording contract from an amazing band in the Northwest. When it arrives, we'll fill you in on the details.

We're trying to track down Danny Vesper and see if he's ready to release the first QUICK & DEAD disc yet...we thought he was getting close, but now he's gone back into hiding (aka: the studio) for more yet-to-be released genius-to-tape sessions. As of now, he has written about 40 tracks for us to dig through for the debut full-length, and they are all amazing. Also, it sounds like the band Danny plays bass in, SHELBY are planning on recording a new album starting now.

Finally, we're writing up a contract for the best band to come out of Iowa in a damn long time. More on that soon too. Plan on a record that will most likely be recorded with Andy Patterson (Her Candane, Art Of Kanly, Still Breaking Hearts, The Hotness) here in Salt Lake City.

Our good friends HER CANDANE have released another record, titled No Battle, out now on Tribunal Records. Recorded by Kris Krummet (Fear Before The March Of Flames, Kaddisfly, Anatomy of A Ghost) at Interlace Audio. Go buy the disc, it’s available at your finer record stores nationwide, and also available through Lumberjack/Mordam Distribution.

Her Candane are currently working on writing new tracks this month, and they’ve booked a bunch of shows starting early next year – check out the tour dates page to see the shows with I AM THE OCEAN (featuring Kellen Dopp, formerly of Her Candane on vocals), LOVE ME DESTROYER, IMPERIAL, and TROPHY SCARS.

Sound Vs Silence is super excited to announce the release of the debut record by THE HOTNESS, featuring Lucky and A-dogg, 2 of the 3 guys that run this here label! The disc is called Fashion Over Comfort, and it features the best damn drum-machine and Casio riffs put to tape in the last few days, to say the least. Check the tour dates for upcoming local shows, and look for reviews of the record in zines soon. The boys have just added a guitarist and a new keyboardist, and there is talk of a tour this Summer. This is a great disc, it’s something like a blend of Adam and His Package and The Blood Brothers – but very minimalist and fun. Seriously, you must see these dudes rock it live… Check out some tracks on the band’s myspace page.

While you’re there, add your ass to our friend list too…TWELVE GAUGE VALENTINE is still on tour! Currently, they’re doing some dates with MAYLENE AND THE SONS OF DISASTER, and they’re working on booking some more shows for 2007 as we speak. They’re supporting the new disc, Shock Value (SolidState) and they’re still selling our release, Exclamationaire on the road as well. New tour dates added here, so make sure you make it a point to see these guys…they’re getting rave reviews. They’ve got some new posters and shirts for sale too. We are almost done with SVSS number 6: THE HOTNESS "Fashion Over Comfort" record has been at the pressing plant for a few weeks now, we're just fine-tuning the artwork. Plan on the disc being available as early as a week or two from now...

The new TWELVE GAUGE VALENTINE record (on SolidState) will be released on October 3rd. You gotta get it. We just caught up to the boys in 12GV yesterday - sounds like they've had some issues with dropping a tranny in Minneapolis, and they're currently keeping the foot on the gas pedal to make it back to the tour that's in Texas this week. Hopefully, the van issues will be righted soon, and the tour will continue without issue. We'll keep you posted. Also, we just printed up some new Twelve Gauge Valentine posters...we'll show 'em to ya soon.

TWELVE GAUGE VALENTINE ON TOUR
Thanks a million to those who have made it out to see Twelve Gauge Valentine on the band's recent tour. The boys are playing an all new collection of songs - most of which will be featured on the band's upcoming full-length on Solid State. The disc is currently waiting to be mixed, and has a tentative release projected sometime this Fall.

For those of you planning the trip, Twelve Gauge Valentine will be playing Cornerstone Festival. Even better, they're playing there twice!! For those of you in Salt Lake City, you must make it to the show at the AVALON THEATRE this Thursday - ART OF KANLY will be playing with BOY SETS FIRE. They'll have the new record there, and you should buy that too.

Our hero DANNY VESPER of Quick & Dead tells us today via email that he may finally be done recording the pending release for Sound Vs Silence. Yes, we have been talking about this for 2 years, and if you go listen to the SVSS 2004 compilation you'll hear a couple old tracks from the man himself. As soon as we determine the new track listing and release date we'll let you know what to expect.

Danny has also joined up with the amazing band SHELBY. Mr. Vesper is playing bass, and dammnit these guys are good! We've added the Shelby dates to our tour page, just so you won't be left out of the loop. Shelby is on a label called Gigantic Music. Go buy the record.

Ok...as you might have noticed, ART OF KANLY have joined the Sound Vs Silence family recently. We are very proud to announce the release of the band's full length CD, titled "A Callous Heart Beats On." Street date for this record: May 16, 2006.

The Almighty TWELVE GAUGE VALENTINE head to Los Angeles this weekend to begin work on their upcoming full-length album for SOLIDSTATE Records, home to some other superb talent. (The Chariot, Norma Jean, As Cities Burn, and a whole lot more!)

The band plans to tour the west coast and surrounding ares on the return trip home. We're all very excited about that, especially since we here at SVSS haven't even met these dudes in person yet. More info on that tour and the recording as it progesses.

We've updated the shows/tours section: HER CANDANE are touring with Lorene Drive (Lobster), Coretta Scott (Rise), and Stutterfly (Maverick) in California this month. Danny Vesper's QUICK & DEAD project has a show in NYC in a few days.

TWELVE GAUGE VALENTINE have 9 new songs finished and prepped for recording - the band plans to hit the studio in March to record their first full-length effort for a yet-to-be named label. More news on that as we get closer.

THE HOTNESS are recording a full-length CD with Andy Patterson this weekend in Salt Lake City.

In case we forgot to mention it, Sound Vs Silence would like to point out the fact that we have some fine-tuned "industry ears"...our buddy Joel Pack (featured on our SVSS 2004 sampler) and his band BROKE have signed with Maverick Records. They've had the chance to tour with The Used a few times this year, and they started recording the major-label debut yesterday! The record is being recorded at Unknown Studios owned by Branden Steinekert of The Used. Mr. Steinekert will be producing it as well...We'd like to wish JP and the boys some luck and plenty of good times...somehow I doubt this record will be packaged in duct tape.

In other news, we have sent a check to our buddy Danny Vesper, who plans to release a Quick And Dead CDEP early next year. He is finalizing two new tracks that he recorded at home last weekend, and will be sending the EP off for mastering very soon...we're using the same guy that mastered the Interpol "Antics" CD. The tracks will be taken from various sessions that Mr. Vesper has been recording throughout 2004 and 2005. As soon as we know the track listing and more info, we'll be happy to let you know. Prepare yourself, this disc will be amazing!

Danny Vesper has decided to call his new project Quick And Dead. He just recorded 3 new tracks in Salt Lake City a few weeks ago, and they are amazing. We are working out details for the first Quick and Dead CDEP very soon, so keep checking back - we'll keep you posted as things progress.

It's official as of a few days ago...Her Candane have been released from their recording contract with United Edge. What will happen to the new record, tentatively titled "No Battle" you ask? Good question. We'll keep you posted as things progress.

In other news, Her Candane has just returned home from a 2 week jaunt that ended in Salt Lake City at the Warped Tour. It sounds like it was quite a hot sweaty jumbled mess, but as always - it was just how the band hoped it would be. The new Her Candane CD is scheduled to come out sometime in 2005 on United Edge Recordings...and we still need to hear to hear it!

Kory Quist, vocalist for The Hi.Fi Massacre has joined His Red Letters after their vocalist Matt parted...HRL is considering a name change now...look for them to play some dates in California and Washinton state with Twelve Gauge Valentine very soon.

Finally, there is something very important you should all know about. THE HOTNESS. This band is the shit. check it out at the Urban Lounge on August 4th. Seriously. I mean it. wow.

In less than a week SVSS HQ will have the new CDEP by TWELVE GAUGE VALENTINE in our grubby little hands! We're setting up a new online order system that should be up by then, and we'll make sure the band has them to sell at CORNERSTONE the weekend of July 3rd. If you are anywhere around Chicago, get your ass over there next weekend!!!

Also, Her Candane have a small tour planned in July. We'll post all the dates on this site soon. This is the tour featuring Jeff from The Hi.Fi Massacre on guitar!

It might be possible that you missed the unveiling of a new band lineup: the official version of I SHOT THEM played two shows last week. One in Provo at Muse music with Parallax, and one in Salt Lake City at The Circuit with Clifton, Gaza, and some other great bands.

I SHOT THEM is a project that features Kory Quist of The Hi.Fi Massacre, Dreu and Goose from Her Candane, and Jerry, Sir, and Parker formerly of Boise, Idaho. The band plays technical metal that throws those damn break-downs out the window almost all together. Who needs to slow it down? Look for more I SHOT THEM SHOWS coming soon.

In other news, we just had a chance to visit the mixing session of the newest members of the SVSS family. We'll let you know what's coming as soon as we make it official.

Oh yeah, and finally, Kellen Dopp (formerly of Her Candane) will be laying down bass tracks on 30 minutes of music his band ILLSOLUS just recorded with Andy Patterson as well...these guys are talking with a dude in San Francisco about producing a recording this Summer. More on that as we get the details. The current recording may just turn out to be a demo, or it might not. We don't know yet.

Ladies and Gentlemen...we are proud to say that the final revisions of the TWELVE GAUGE VALENTINE artwork are in the works today, and then the pressing will happen. We'll let you know as soon as the band will have the discs on the current tour - this way you can buy a Tshirt AND a CD! We plan to have these things done before Cornerstone no matter what...stay tuned for more info.

IllSolus will be recording demos with Andy Patterson starting next Monday, May 23rd. We'll keep you posted on how things turn out.

A couple of us here at SVSS headquarters just got back from a week in New York City...we had a chance to kick back with Danny Vesper, and we are very excited about his upcoming album. Don't worry - we really will release it soon! The track listing may change once more before it becomes official, but plan on this disc to be released this Summer. Danny has been spending some of his free time lately researching and writing a non-fiction book. We wish him the best of luck on that project, as it no doubt consumes countless hours.

In other news, The Hi.Fi Massacre are still writing new tracks, and plan to hit the studio this Winter. We're talking about a full-length for SVSS to be released in early 2006. They should be ready to play shows with thier new tunes and official line up very soon...we'll keep you posted.

Hey there ladies and gents...got bunches of news for you. Let's start with something you may already have heard something about:

The boys in Her Candane have decided to move on. Sadly, Sound Vs Silence will not get a chance to release their new full-length record (which sounds great, by the way). The band has singed with United Edge Records, and the record should be out this Summer. We'll keep you up to date on their tour dates, and we will continue to make the debut CD, COULD BE NOTHING TO SOME available to all that must have it.

Her Candane will play one or two more shows in Salt Lake City and Ogden, Utah before they hit the road in June. Tour dates will be posted here soon.

Ok, so Her Candane have finished mixing a new track, titled "Duh.Giant Scorpion" and it's amazing. The boys are breaking new ground, and we will post the track right here as soon as we master it.

Something else you should know about: Dreu and Goose of Her Candane have joined forces with Kory of Hi.Fi Massacre and 3 dudes from Boise to form I SHOT THEM. They just recorded and mixed a track for an upcoming sampler we're planning...more on that soon

It's February already? Damn, where did January go?

We've got some updates for you...Her Candane have added a keyboard to the lineup. That's right, now they're a sextet...some of the members would say that they always have been I suppose. The band has been working exceptionally hard on the new demos and plan to record thier full-length CD with Kris Crummet in Portland during the month of April. We're putting together some great shows for the trip out and back, including a few dates with AS CITIES BURN at the end of April. More on those dates as they confirm.

After a few member change-ups, The Hi.Fi Massacre is a complete unit again. The boys are hunkered down in Positively 4th Street working up a brand new set. They'll unveil the strong, solid lineup at a special event we're planning for all y'all in the SLC. More on that soon.

Danny Vesper continues to wait patiently for the slackers at SVSS hq to get his disc ready for release. We're inches away from having the album ready to go...plan on a release date in March.

A gigantic thanks to all that attended the show at the Lo Fi Cafe last night. Kellen (of Her Candane) played a great acoustic set, Curis Jensen read some of his poetry, The Art Of Kanly rocked hard, and Danny Vesper played a few tracks from his upcoming full length. Now you all know why we're so excited about this disc!

On another note, we are in the planning stages of the Sound Vs Silence 2005 compilation CD. Although we have a few bands that we know will be included, we are also on the lookout for others. Please send all demos and recordings to us at the address on this site.

The amazing Joel Hamilton of Studio G Brooklyn posted a nice little teaser about the Danny Vesper session from last week. Here's what he said:

"Finished last night at 3am track and mix 3 songs in a day. Recorded and mixed possibly the coolest sounding Acoustic/vocal track I have ever recorded. Sounds like CSN, but totally modern and fully weird with multiple mic/multiple compressor setups that moves around in the stereo image depending on the note the guy is singing. Seriously one of the best things I have ever figured out for something as simple as a guitar and singer. Awesome."

Joel currently plays in Players Club, used to play in Shiner, and has worked with Sparklehorse, Frank Black, and Ludakris to name a few.
